Simple to Use
Product Code Roll-up simply populates product codes from products related to Opportunities or Quotes into 2 helpful custom fields on their parent objects.
After installation, the app starts to work straight away.
One 255-character text field to use in list views, another long text field for reports.
Not One App, But Two!
Product Code Roll-up is two apps – one for Opportunity, the other for Quotes. The behaviour is similar in each app. One makes the product codes from Opportunity Products (line items) available in a text field on Opportunity so you can use this information in filters and for document merge applications such as Conga Composer and Nintex DocGen. The other does the same for Quotes.
Product Code Roll-up makes two new fields – called ‘Opportunity Product Codes’ and ‘Opportunity Product Codes (Short)’ – available to add to an opportunity page layout. Each time that the opportunity is edited or an opportunity product added/removed, the fields are updated to include the list of product codes. Similarly, the Quotes app does the same on the Quotes object.
The ‘short’ field includes the first 255 characters from the list so that the field can be used as a filter in Salesforce List Views.
In the case of a 5 character product code, this field will support 42 line item codes.
Each Product Code in the field is delimited by default using the underscore character ‘_’. However, if you use underscores in your product codes, you can change this to any other character, or series of characters as the delimiter is stored in a Custom Label.
Opportunities are available in all Salesforce Editions – from Essential all the way through to Unlimited Edition.
Products and Opportunity Products are only available in Salesforce Editions Professional and above.
Quotes is an optional setting that you can choose to enable or disable in your Salesforce org. If you don’t use Quotes, there’s no need to use Product Code Roll-up for Quotes.
Product Code Roll-up for Quotes will only install in Salesforce orgs where Quotes in enabled.
After you’ve completed the lead process and are working in Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities, by default Salesforce “expects” you to track a Lead Source on each opportunity.
Most businesses that we’ve worked with prefer not to do this and would rather track the source of an Account.
You can then answer questions from your management team like “Which customers did we acquire through the channel?”
If you’re tracking Lead Sources only on Contacts and Opportunities – it’s tricky to answer this question. In all likelihood the Account Source is the same as the Lead Source of the first contact that was created for the Account.
Lead Source Mapper just makes it easier to track this upon lead conversion.
